Marshall Hatchick Two Counties Championship Division 7

Worlingworth v St Osyth

St Osyth won by 9 runs

A superb bowling and fielding display saw St Osyth win by 9 runs at Worlingworth in Two Counties

Divsion 7.

Batting first on a difficult wicket, St Osyth relied on a determined innings of 57 from captain James Handscombe as wickets tumbled around him. When he was out with the score at 99, Anthony Hazelton

took over the initiative and made 23 before being last man out with the total on 135.

Worlingworth gained an extra 5 overs to reach the target, but found batting equally tricky against an exceptional first 15 overs of bowling from Alex Hennessy and Ross Evans which saw the hosts pegged

back to 29-3. Hennessy carried on to bowl a remarkable 16-over spell, conceding only 13 runs for his 3 wickets. James Handscombe then put in a fair shift, also getting through 16 overs and taking 3 wickets as amazingly Worlingworth batted through 45 overs, but still needed 33 to win. A brief but effective spell from Anthony Hazelton resulted in a further wicket, and when Ross Evans came back to bowl the 50th over, Worlingworth were still 15 runs light, which St Osyth successfully defended.
